Seniors --- Send First Semester Grades to Four Year Colleges ASAP
Seniors, if you have already submitted applications/transcripts to four year colleges, you now need to get to those colleges your first semester grades. How you do that varies depending on the college. UW does not want ANY first semester grades from Roosevelt, and neither do any of the University of California schools. Most other public colleges will want them and if you are not sure, err on the side of sending the grades. All private colleges to which you applied separately FROM THE COMMON APPLICATION will also want first semester grades.
In order to send an updated transcript to those public and private colleges, with first semester grades: bring into the counseling office ASAP but no later than FEBRUARY 5, FOR EACH COLLEGE a stamped envelope addressed to each college admissions office, WITH YOUR NAME ON THE ENVELOPE. We will then mail the updated transcript the week of February 8th, trying our hardest to make sure the transcripts are in the mail before mid winter break.
For those students who applied to colleges via the common application, and your counselor sent your initial transcript online, you do not need to bring in any envelopes. We will upload an updated transcript with first semester grades to the common application browser and it will go out to all the colleges to which you submitted a common application. See your counselor ASAP if you have any questions!

New Japanese and French Textbook Adoption
Seattle Public Schools is working on adopting new JAPANESE and FRENCH textbooks and would like your input. Please visit curriculum adoption to see when and where materials will be available for viewing throughout district schools and to participate in the survey. They are also available at the JSCEE District Office Curriculum Library for the rest of the year. We truly value your insight and input on this investment in our students’ future world language skills. Merci! Arigato!
Seattle School Levy Ballots
Be sure mail them back by February 9! The mail-in ballot contains levy renewals for two expiring levies that provide essential funding for Roosevelt and other Seattle schools. There are two expiring levies that provide essential funding for Roosevelt and other Seattle schools. Prop 1, the capital projects levy, funds hundreds of smaller maintenance and safety projects including a security camera system at Roosevelt and funds to reopen McDonald and Sand Point schools. Prop 2, the operations levy, funds 23% of our day-to-day operating expenses, including the 6th period so critical for our high school students. Please vote and return your ballots by February 9! Rider Sports Auction - March 6, 2010
Roosevelt High School encourages all students to participate in athletics, band and cheer squad, regardless of their ability to pay. We are proud of the fact that over 850 students participate in these programs each year.
Unfortunately, the Seattle School District’s current budget crisis will adversely affect the funding of our athletic programs. With this auction we hope to supplement the district’s funding. We have held four Annual Sports Auctions; raising between $40,000, and $60,000 each year.
Please help make this a successful event by marking your calendar and sending in your RSVP. Not only is this a chance to socialize with your RHS community while supporting a great cause, you can be a part of the annual inducting of former athletes to the Rider Hall of Fame. Check out the Auction link on the Athletic Boosters site and view your Auction Invite for more details.
Interested in Being Involved This Year?
Roosevelt has many wonderful programs that just would not run without the time, energy and resources of parents, guardians and other volunteers. Please consider volunteering for one of the many PTSA committees or open Board position this year. Some of these are once/twice a month commitments, others are a one-time, short-term commitment while still others are ongoing, monthly commitments.
Check the open positions on the PTSA Roster and Committee page. You can find job descriptions for all of the Board and committee positions on the Volunteer Description page. If you have more questions, please contact a current PTSA Board or Committee member.
If you want to simply volunteer for an activity, please take a look at Volunteer page and sign up online for the activities that interest you.
